A practical guide to using Alpaca's US equity bars to price positions and build ratio-based signals alongside SEC EDGAR fundamentals.

Overview

This data source exposes OHLCV (open/high/low/close/volume) candlesticks for 50 of the most traded US equities and four gold and silver ETFs, natively aggregated at 1-minute resolution from Alpaca's SIP feed and re-aggregated to your chosen period.

  • Update cadence: bars are ingested at 1-minute resolution; the Period input offers the shared candle windows from 15m up to 1M (same selector as Cryptocurrency).
  • Coverage: NVIDIA (NVDA), Apple (AAPL), Microsoft (MSFT), Amazon (AMZN), Tesla (TSLA), Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.B), IonQ (IONQ), Micron (MU), SpaceX (SPCX), Sandisk (SNDK), Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Meta (META), Alphabet (GOOGL), Broadcom (AVGO), Intel (INTC), Palantir (PLTR), Oracle (ORCL), TSMC (TSM), SK hynix (SKHY), Marvell (MRVL), Netflix (NFLX), Eli Lilly (LLY), Applied Materials (AMAT), Strategy (MSTR), Western Digital (WDC), JPMorgan Chase (JPM), Nebius (NBIS), Walmart (WMT), Robinhood (HOOD), CoreWeave (CRWV), Lam Research (LRCX), UnitedHealth (UNH), Seagate (STX), Qualcomm (QCOM), Bloom Energy (BE), ExxonMobil (XOM), ASML Holding (ASML), Visa (V), Dell (DELL), Costco (COST), ServiceNow (NOW), Caterpillar (CAT), Coinbase (COIN), Cisco (CSCO), IREN (IREN), Bank of America (BAC), Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), Chevron (CVX), AbbVie (ABBV), Coca-Cola (KO); and the gold and silver ETFs SPDR Gold Shares (GLD), iShares Gold Trust (IAU), iShares Silver Trust (SLV) and abrdn Silver ETF Trust (SIVR).

Split Adjustment

Bars are split-adjusted to the latest basis — a 2020 split, for example, is retroactively applied across the whole series so there is no permanent price seam on the split date. This is the same latest-basis normalisation the Stock: Fundamentals source applies to eps/rps/bvps/shr, so price / eps from these two nodes yields a dimensionally sound trailing P/E without any manual rebasing.

Not dividend-adjusted. Alpaca's adjustment=split mode adjusts for splits only, never dividends — a stock that pays a large dividend will show its full pre-dividend price with no downward adjustment on the ex-dividend date. This is deliberate: dividend adjustment would NOT cancel out of price/eps the way split adjustment does, and mixing it in would break the P/E gauge-match with fundamentals.

Coverage Caveats

  • SIP feed, 15 minutes delayed: prices and volume are the consolidated tape of every US venue, and a live bar lands about 15 minutes after its minute closes. A historical window SIP left empty is filled from Alpaca's IEX feed, which carries only IEX-venue trades.
  • No dividend history is exposed by this node; combine with a Cash Flow or dividend-specific source if you need total-return accounting.
  • History begins where Alpaca's backfill starts; there is no pre-listing or delisted-symbol data.
  • History starts 2020-07-01, or at a ticker's first trade when it listed later: Palantir (PLTR) 2020-09-30, Coinbase (COIN) 2021-04-14, Robinhood (HOOD) 2021-07-29, IREN (IREN) 2021-11-17, CoreWeave (CRWV) 2025-03-28, SpaceX (SPCX) 2026-06-12, SK hynix (SKHY) 2026-07-10.
  • Intraday periods keep a rolling window: 15m the last 2 years, 30m the last 3, 1h the last 5. 1d and longer keep the full history.
  • IonQ (IONQ) history starts 2021-01-04 and includes its pre-merger listing as dMY Technology Group III (DMYI), which Alpaca carries under IONQ; the merger closed on 2021-09-30.
  • Nebius (NBIS) starts 2024-10-21, when it resumed trading as Nebius; the earlier Yandex (YNDX) listing is not included.
  • Sandisk (SNDK) starts 2025-02-13 with its when-issued trading, ahead of the spin-off from Western Digital completing on 2025-02-24; those first sessions are thin.
  • The gold and silver ETFs hold bullion, so their prices follow spot gold and silver, but only during US market hours. iShares Gold Trust (IAU) did a 1-for-2 reverse split on 2021-05-24, applied across its whole series like any split.
  • A few hours are missing because Alpaca's SIP feed has no bars for them: several tickers on 2021-10-25, 2022-01-24, 2022-01-26 and 2022-03-08, and Bloom Energy (BE) from 2024-11-14 until the next morning's open. They are left empty rather than filled.

Building Ratios: Wire Fundamentals In

Pair the Close output with Stock: Fundamentals to build valuation ratios — see that node's documentation for the full ratio table (P/E, Market Cap, P/S, P/B, Earnings Yield). Both sources share the same split basis, so no rebasing step is needed between them.

Coverage does not fully overlap: Stock: Fundamentals covers 44 of the tickers here. Ten are price only: Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.B), whose per-share facts are per Class A share; TSMC (TSM) and ASML Holding (ASML), which file in IFRS and in euros; SK hynix (SKHY), which files no XBRL statements; SpaceX (SPCX), too new for a trailing-twelve-month figure; ExxonMobil (XOM), whose ticker moved to a new holding company in 2026; and the four gold and silver ETFs, bullion trusts with no earnings. Ford (F) is the reverse: it has fundamentals but no Stock: Price series yet.
